A beautiful ancient stannary town that has a variety of historic buildings that dates back to Saxon times. The town itself lies approximately half way between Exeter and Plymouth and is ideally placed to explore Dartmoor. From the village you can look at the glorious views of green hills with animals grazing or just watch people pottering around this peaceful village. Why not visit the hardware shop in North Street, in 1646 it used to be the Mermaid Inn and rumour has it that the Roundhead General Fairfax slept here on the same night he took the town.
