This beautiful village is well known for its association to Widecombe Fair that dates back to 1850, an annual event that tells the story through song of ‘Uncle Tom Cobley’, his friends and a very unfortunate horse. The local shops sell various souvenirs many of which feature the characters from the story and song. If the shops are not for you why not just sit on the green, listen to the leaves softly rustling in the wind and take in the fabulous surrounding views of Dartmoor.
